suitable Suzuki SV1000 with no luck; everything I found was either too expensive, too old or had
way to many miles for me to even consider further investigation. After expanding my search
radius from 100 to 200 to 300 miles, I figured, “what the heck - I’ll search the whole country.” And
there, right at the top of the page was my dream bike! Aftermarket pipes, low miles, and a price
that seemed too good to be true.
I’m as skeptical as anyone when it comes to buying used vehicles, having owned four
motorcycles and seven cars I’ve had my share of lemons. With cautious optimism I called to find
out more… Sander answered right away, and had a complete and detailed knowledge of the bike I
was inquiring about, as well as comparable models, similar bikes he had sold, and every minute

We made the trip home with no trouble, 4 gallons in, with 197 miles on the trip. Sweet. I call that
great. It did run great.
Speaking of running great. I drove 65, 70, 75 on the way home to break the bike in properly. When
I was driving 65 the bike was so disgusted with me. I felt like it wanted me to stand on the gas, or
drive a wooden stake thru it's heart. I wants to GO. And it seems to know how!

When I emailed Sander he responded promptly and was able to answer all my questions. I had
been to new bike stores and found them less than helpful at all. Sander was able to help me
decide what I needed for my first bike as well as explain what the different models I was looking
at would offer me as far as my needs went.
After buying the bike from him, he even helped me tie it down in the rental truck I had gotten so I
could transport it home. He even explained how and why he ties it the way he does so I would
know in the future.
At this point i would have assumed our business relationship would have ended, however I ran
into a few questions about my bike that the local Yamaha shop didn't want to take the time to help
me with, so I sent Sander an email. I was very surprised that not only did he take the time to
answer my questions, he even included links on a few of his answers that were very helpful. I
would recommended his shop to anyone looking for a used bike. My bike has been great and any
questions I have had on it he has been very willing to help me with.

I am a first-time motorcycle buyer/owner/rider and I've had a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom that I
bought from Avant Motorcycles about a month ago. Sander asked for a testimonial after my
purchase, but I wanted to wait and feel confident with my purchase first.
Because I was buying a motorcycle for the first time, and I am not very mechanically inclined, at
least when it comes to motorcycles, I was pretty sure I would buy from a dealer rather than a
private party. I thought a dealership would be more likely to be worried about selling a lemon. But
as a cautious consumer I still planned to check out plenty of bikes at dealerships and through
private parties. I researched makes and models extensively online in preparation.
A lot of the bikes in my price range and taste preference kept popping up from Avant. I am a
professional writer and editor, I have operated websites, and I have thorough experience as a
content consumer. Though Avant Motorcycles has a rather basic website, it loudly broadcast
integrity and honesty. Anyone can come up with a slick pitch or site, but I got a strong feeling and
decided to make Avant my first stop. I went with a friend. I told her that if the staff at Avant
seemed as honest and forthcoming as the website, I had a hunch I would probably buy there. She
was skeptical.
But the staff was just Sander Avant and he turned out to be intelligent, exceptionally frank, and
plenty honest. He listened to my needs, made some solid suggestions and explained the
reasoning, and spent as much time as I needed. When I left, I told my friend I had a hunch I would
probably buy there, and this time, she agreed.
I went and took my drivers license test, bought a helmet and safety equipment, and went home to
compare prices on the bikes I had liked at Avant. I still thought I would look at some other dealers.
But his prices were absolutely competitive. I listened to my gut and went straight back. I bought
the bike I wanted and drove it off the lot that day, on the first day of motorcycle shopping and from
the only place I physically visited.
Sander maintained great follow-up communication with me. I told him he'd get his testimonial
after a week of ownership, but one thing led to another and it's been one month exactly.
My motorcycle is my primary mode of transpo; I own no car. Recently, after having ridden around
San Antonio and on some weekend rides in Hill Country, I went for my first long cruise down to
McAllen. I ran over something and got a flat tire, as it happened, and someone picked me up and
took me to a motorcycle shop. As they changed the tire, I asked them to go over the rest of the
bike and look for anything mechanical or electrical that could use replacing or adjusting. They
said the bike was in perfect shape.
I've had no issues whatsoever. The tire punctured because of something sharp, not because the
tires were worn. The shop told me both tires were in fine shape, aside from the puncture wound.
I've put hundreds of miles on it, and it runs like a charm.
I like it so much, I invested in some custom paint work!
Avant Motorcycles does not have the largest inventory in town. But if you want to deal with a
small, cherry-picked inventory maintained by a diligent, honest small business owner, go there. If
it's your first stop, it's likely to be your last!

Dear Sander,
Thank you so much! I just bought a beautiful 2008 Yamaha V-Star 650 Custom from Avant
Motorcycles, and I couldn't be happier!
I spent a lot of time deciding what I wanted for my first motorcycle and looked everywhere for the
perfect-for-me bike. And this one is just plain perfect! No one can believe it's a 2008 and only had
13 miles on it! I never figured I'd find such a brand new bike in that year (I definitely wanted a 2008
or older because I really wanted a red one!). Everything else I looked at had lots of wear and tear,
thousands of miles, and cost more money. It got to me on New Year's Eve and since then, I've
almost put 100 miles on it. Being in Key West, that's not bad; it's only a 2 x 4 mile island. I know
this probably sounds ridiculous to you seasoned riders, but I feel like there are so many cool
firsts... first fill up (I haven't had to do my second fill up yet so I'm still curious about how many
miles to the gallon I'm getting.), first time in fifth gear (I've been on a scooter for the past 9 years,
so shifting, torque, power, speed and all that stuff is such a nice "change of pace". None of our
speed limits are higher than 35 mph here, but I found a couple back roads just long enough to get
it up in speed.), first time with a passenger (I really don't like the idea of passengers, but my sister
begged me and I gave in because she promised not to wiggle. For the record, she still wiggled.
Yup, that' back seat's for luggage only.), first ride in the rain (I've got to get better goggles and a
pair of waterproof chaps.). I also look forward to other firsts I haven't had yet...my first Duval
Crawl, first Peterson's Poker Run, and especially my first road trip. It's such a fun ride! I can't
wait.
To any folks who are reading this and considering buying a bike from Sander, Go for it! He's been
great to work with! I must have called him a million times with questions and he answers the

Thank you so much! I just bought a beautiful 2008 Yamaha V-Star 650 Custom from Avant
Motorcycles, and I couldn't be happier!
I spent a lot of time deciding what I wanted for my first motorcycle and looked everywhere for the
perfect-for-me bike. And this one is just plain perfect! No one can believe it's a 2008 and only had
13 miles on it! I never figured I'd find such a brand new bike in that year (I definitely wanted a 2008
or older because I really wanted a red one!). Everything else I looked at had lots of wear and tear,
thousands of miles, and cost more money. It got to me on New Year's Eve and since then, I've
almost put 100 miles on it. Being in Key West, that's not bad; it's only a 2 x 4 mile island. I know
this probably sounds ridiculous to you seasoned riders, but I feel like there are so many cool
firsts... first fill up (I haven't had to do my second fill up yet so I'm still curious about how many
miles to the gallon I'm getting.), first time in fifth gear (I've been on a scooter for the past 9 years,
so shifting, torque, power, speed and all that stuff is such a nice "change of pace". None of our
speed limits are higher than 35 mph here, but I found a couple back roads just long enough to get
it up in speed.), first time with a passenger (I really don't like the idea of passengers, but my sister
begged me and I gave in because she promised not to wiggle. For the record, she still wiggled.
Yup, that' back seat's for luggage only.), first ride in the rain (I've got to get better goggles and a
pair of waterproof chaps.). I also look forward to other firsts I haven't had yet...my first Duval
Crawl, first Peterson's Poker Run, and especially my first road trip. It's such a fun ride! I can't
wait.
To any folks who are reading this and considering buying a bike from Sander, Go for it! He's been
great to work with! I must have called him a million times with questions and he answers the

From the moment I walked in Sander treated me like a person - he was very knowledgeable about
his inventory, about motorcycling in general and knew exactly where all the flaws were on the
bike I was looking at. The great thing about Sander is that he is both the owner and operator so I
wasn't handed off to another person or department to handle the paperwork once the sale was
made.
If you want to talk about customer service, Avant Motorcycles is second to none. I was excited
and eager to get my M50 Boulevard home so I skipped work and showed up at the shop. Sander
told me that my bike wasn't quite ready because he still had to change the oil and get it inspected
BUT that if I could wait just a bit longer he'd load it up on his pickup and drive it over to my house
to deliver it personally. Try getting THAT level of customer service anywhere else!

When Kawasaki updated their Ninja 250 in 2008 I immediately wanted one. I had been looking hi
and low for one that was with in my price range and that was in good condition for the past year.
So when I saw this red 2010 Ninja on Sander's web site I had to stop by his shop and take a good
long look at it.
Now, a little more information is in order here. I had visited Sander twice before in the previous
year and a half. The first time I visited I just wanted to check out Avant Motorcycles and to see
who was running it. When I got there I found a nice clean shop with clean bikes and more
importantly I found Sander to be a real knowledgeable, informative and genuinely honest man. He
answered all of my questions thoroughly. He wasn't trying to push any bikes on me or working to
get a sale. Sander really wanted to just help me. Man, how awesome is that! How rare is that now
a days. I left there feeling excited in that if he ever had a Ninja 250R for that I would probably buy
from him.
The second time I visited was to see a 2011 two tone Ninja that he had for sale. Again, my
experience was a most positive one. When I arrived at the shop there was another customer
looking at the bike. Sander was answering my questions as well as the other customers'
questions about the bike at the same time. I didn't buy the bike obviously. (I don't like the two tone
paint scheme that Kawasaki uses. These bikes look better in just one paint color I believe, but
that is subjective.)
My third visit was to check this bike out. I periodically go to Avant's web site to see if Sander has
any Ninjas for sale and this time he did. I stopped on by the shop and told Sander that I wanted to
take a look at the Red Ninja 250 and he was more that willing to show it to me and answer all of
my questions fully. I didn't buy it that day but man I was close. I still wanted to check around for a
better "deal".
Well the better deal was this bike. It was priced fair and it is in really good condition. Being used it
was dropped and had a few scratches but Sander told me about them and showed them to me
and didn't hide anything about the bike. He was straight up honest with everything about the bike.
Again, how rare is that now a days. I bought the bike after I got out of work on the 20th of January.
Did all of the paper work that we could do that day only because it was about 5:45p.m. and it was
late in the day. I got the bike the next day and finished the rest of the paper work. There was a
small miscalculation in the price and Sander said that I overpaid by $1. He gave me that $1 back
and apologized for not catching it sooner. Like I said before, he's an honest guy.
All of my dealings with Sander were positive. The buying experience was painless for me. Sander
did the hard part regarding paper work. No fuss, no muss. I would highly recommend Sander to
anyone looking for an honest deal on quality used motorcycles. Oh, and also, I got no cash or
kickbacks or anything shady like that from Sander or anyone associated with him or Avant
Motorcycles for the testimony. It sad to see that business men like Sander and businesses like
Avant Motorcycles are the exception and not the rule now a days. Stop by his shop and take a
look at the bikes, he has some nice ones. I hope that this was a help to anyone who reads it.
